Each exhibition in HOK is accompanied by a limited edition publication, dedicated to that one artist. The publications can be considered an intensive artist portrait but also as ephemeral artists’ publication. Most publications come with a unique multiple, almost always made by the artists themselves. The multiples range from darkroom prints, engraved copperplates, pop-up collages, (valid) post stamps to posters.
The starting point of each publication in a zine, both in shape as in philosophy, from these on the publication morphs into a new, unique publication within the IN HOK series. All is possible, we work by the dada no-rule-rule. Each publication is made in close collaboration with the gallerist, writer and editor Mr. Pelham, artist Lula Valletta who is responsible for the editorial design, photographer Bertus Gerssen, Riso print room Stencilwerck, and of course the artist of that publication. The content of the publications varies, the base however is an (almost always) text; a poem, an interview, or an essay. The IN HOK series grows both in volume, size, knowledge, and content. Almost like a journey… Each publication is a limited edition of 50 and slowly becoming collector’s items.
